California’s Governor Race Wide Open

California’s 2026 governor’s race appears to be wide open, especially after Kamala Harris decided not to run.  A recent UC Berkeley/Los Angeles Times poll shows nearly 40% of voters are undecided.  Former Representative Katie Porter leads with 17% support, followed by Republican Sheriff Chad Bianco at 10%.  Many voters are still unfamiliar with the candidates, making the race uncertain with less than a year until the primary.  Other top candidates for governor, including former U.S. Health Secretary Xavier Becerra, ex-Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and current California Superintendent Tony Thurmond, received single-digit support, along with Toni Atkins, Betty Yee, Stephen Cloobeck, and Steve Hilton.
