The San Francisco Unified School District will not be moving forward with an equity grading strategy that was proposed this week. The strategy, known as “Grading for Equity,” was presented during a SFUSD Board of Education meeting on Tuesday.
Mayor Daniel Lurie announced Wednesday that the plan would not go into effect.
The program was intended to ensure “bias-resistant and motivational” grading practices. Under the equity program, students’ final grades would rely on summative assessments, not “classwork and homework,” according to district officials.
